The story goes that it was discovered by accident when molten glass accidentally mixed with copper shavings or crystals, creating a sparkly and reflective material. Over time, this technique was refined, and goldstone became a popular material for decorative items and jewelry.

Goldstone has a distinctive appearance characterized by its sparkly, metallic-like glitter. Here are some key features. The base color of goldstone is typically a reddish-brown, although it can also be found in other colors such as blue and green. The color is imparted by the copper crystals within the glass.

The most notable characteristic of goldstone is the presence of numerous tiny, reflective crystals that create a shimmering effect, resembling aventurine or sunstone. The sparkles are usually attributed to metallic particles, often copper. Goldstone is usually translucent or semi-translucent, allowing light to pass through and enhance the glittering effect. The texture is smooth and glassy, and the glittering particles are evenly distributed throughout the material.
